The day began with the amusing sight of Daniel Slattery chasing a run away roller as his team mates struggled with the Imps covers and the not so amusing sight of a series of showers sweeping over an already soggy Fearon. The CYs were also wrestling with the covers but following two pitch inspections play got underway with Avondale Heights winning the toss and asking the CYs to bat on a track that had a bit of juice and promised assistance to the bowlers. Glenn Mills ripped the heart out of the Avondale Heights bowling as he compiled a sensational 127 n.o. on Saturday. It was his second century for the season to go with a further two half-centuries.

Ringo (27) and Shaun Byrne (30) laid a good foundation while Laurence Henry (24) and and Damo B (12) supported Mills during his onslaught.

At stumps the seconds had set Avondale heights the daunting task of chasing 8-273 next week.

An ordinary Melbourne day saw Footscray ANA visit the Market, which looked ordinarily ordinary.

Corpse and JC opened the batting attack and set up a solid but slow start until JC was given LBW for 4 by Blind Freddie. Marcus’s time in the 2nds had given him a permanent ‘eye-in’ as he pulled many many many many boundaries with consumate ease. Corpse got bowled for 35 before drinks, another nice score by the handlebar’d old fart, and the Turds were 2-69. Bourbon was bowled for 7, not quite getting settled in at the crease. Saturday 3rd marks the end of the regular ‘home & away‘ season.

The current state of sides :

• 1XI : Having bowled Parkville out for 193, CY’s are currently 1 fa 1. Regardless of the result the 1’s are guaranteed a top 2 spot and a home final.
• 2XI : Chasing 316 to win. A win will give the 2’s a chance of finals, requiring West Newport to beat Footscray Utd and Keilor to beat Werribee Centrals (already won)
• 3XI : Chasing 330 to beat Wyndhamvale. Pride on the line for the 3’s boys against Mozza’s mates !!

Regardless of win, lose or draw, Saturday night will be the last official function of the season with a club ‘break-up’ at the rooms. Starting straight after the conclusion of games, we hope to see everyone in attendance !
